The prescription blood-thinner Xarelto (rivaroxaban) has been linked to serious internal bleeding injuries. These events can occur instantaneously or within a few days after ingesting the medication and are often life threatening. Specific bleeding injuries include:

  • Gastrointestinal bleed (GI bleed)
  • Intracranial hemorrhage
  • Hemorrhagic bleeding
  • Stroke

If you or your family has been affected, an experienced Xarelto lawyer in our office can inform you about the litigation and help you understand your legal rights.

Xarelto Attorneys Allege Failure to Warn

With Xarelto, there is no way to reverse the blood-thinning (or anticoagulation) effects of the drug. This can cause some patients to suffer uncontrollable and sometimes fatal bleeding events. Our Xarelto attorneys are evaluating evidence that the drug manufacturers were aware of this risk but failed to adequately warn patients and doctors.

Lawsuits also allege that the manufacturers improperly promoted Xarelto as superior to warfarin because Xarelto is taken orally once a day and does not require blood monitoring. However, warfarin has a known antidote to stabilize and treat bleeding emergencies whereas Xarelto does not. At the same time, medical studies showed that Xarelto posed a heightened risk of bleeding compared to placebo, a fact that the manufacturers allegedly omitted or downplayed in direct-to-consumer and other promotional materials for the drug.

Other allegations include fraud, negligence, defective design, and breach of warranties.

Consult a Xarelto Lawyer About Your Case

As with any lawsuit, certain time limits can restrict your ability to pursue compensation for legal damages. We encourage individuals with a potential Xarelto claim to consult a lawyer in a timely manner.

You should note that a Xarelto class action lawsuit has not been established for victims of internal bleeding. Rather, cases are filed individually in state and federal courts around the country. This means you will need your own attorney to represent you in your individual case.

The first step with any claim is to receive an informed case evaluation and understand your legal options. Our firm has represented clients in complex pharmaceutical litigation for over 25 years. We represent our clients on a no-fee, contingency basis and provide all consultations at no cost.
