AndroGel is aggressively marketed to men with the promise of enhancing sex drive, energy, and mood. But medical studies show that low testosterone therapy can significantly increase a man’s risk of cardiovascular injuries and other serious side effects.

Hundreds of lawsuits have been filed against the makers of AndroGel and other Low T therapies while thousands more are currently under review. To speak with an experienced AndroGel lawyer, call (866) 808-2424 or send a message using our online form to get a free and confidential case review.

How an AndroGel Lawyer Can Help

During your phone consultation, an AndroGel attorney in our office can inform you about the legal basis for the lawsuit against AndroGel and the steps involved in litigating your claim.

Our AndroGel lawyers are reviewing evidence that drug manufacturers may have known of serious safety risks associated with Low T products yet failed to warn doctors and patients. Lawsuits also allege that Low T is not a recognized medical condition, but that drug makers created and raised awareness about it in order to sell their products to millions of users.

As your AndroGel lawyer will explain, the FDA approved low testosterone therapy to treat diagnosed cases of hypogonadism (severely diminished testosterone) in conjunction with a specific medical condition that inhibits testosterone production. The FDA did not approve the general use of testosterone gel by men experiencing a natural decline in testosterone levels as a result of aging or weight gain. That means many victims of AndroGel heart attack, stroke, or blood clots may have been exposed to life-threatening side effects without regulatory approval or medical justification for use of testosterone therapy.

AndroGel Safety Alerts

In January 2014, the FDA announced that it was investigating the risk of stroke, heart attack, and death in men using low testosterone therapies. The FDA’s action was prompted by findings published in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) that showed a 30% increased risk of these side effects with use of testosterone therapy. Additional findings published in the medical journal PLOS ONE showed double the risk of heart attack in men older than 65 who use low testosterone treatments.

In July 2014, the Canadian government issued a drug safety alert warning the public about serious cardiovascular risks associated with testosterone replacement products like AndroGel. The government began working with manufacturers to add heightened safety warnings on testosterone products sold in Canada to warn consumers about heart attack, stroke, blood clots in the lungs or legs, and irregular heart rate.

In March 2015, the FDA issued similar warnings for Low T products sold in the United States.

AndroGel and other testosterone therapies have been improperly sold as lifestyle drugs that promise to make men feel younger and increase libido. In the absence of a diagnosed medical condition, a growing number of men are put at unnecessary risk of cardiovascular injuries and other dangerous health conditions. If you experienced serious side effects after using Low T therapy, we invite you to consult an experienced AndroGel lawyer in our office about your case.
